In a rather surprising move, Bud Racing Kawasaki announced that they have signed Mitchell Harrison for the remainder of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship. Lorenzo Locurcio was initially set to travel over, in order to replace the injured Brian Hsu, but was struck by visa issues, so now Harrison will fill the seat for the rest of the year. The deal was announced on social media via the following statement.
"Welcome to our new rider, Mitchell Harrison, who will do his first MX2 season race this weekend in Italy, together with the comeback of his teammate Brian Moreau. Happy to have you in the team!"
Mitchell Harrison rode for Rockwell Yamaha in the 250SX West prior to this move, but announced his split from the team last week. That partnership was littered with technical issues and frustration. A seventh in Seattle was his season-best finish.
