Dean Wilson had a turbulent time of it in Salt Lake City, but the misfortune that his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing teammate suffered has overshadowed that somewhat. Wilson joined Jason Anderson in the mechanic's area a couple of laps into the main event, after colliding with another rider, but there was a lot more to that.
"Salt Lake was rough," Wilson wrote in a statement on his social media. "I was running eighth in the main on the third lap until I got cleaned out by another rider, totally never seen [sic] it coming and got blind sided. I dislocated my thumb, popped it back in but my bike was bent and that's why I pulled into mechanic's area to get it fixed.. Came back to thirteenth. Disappointing weekend. Got MRI on thumb today and nothing is torn thankfully. Hopefully I will be ready to rock for Vegas. See you there."
It was certainly a disastrous night for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing outfit. Wilson currently runs seventh in the premier-class standings and, with one round remaining, it is impossible for him to move higher than that. The two riders behind him will not be racing at the final round, so he has effectively already secured that position.
