Southwick: Roczen Reflects

A candid statement from Ken Roczen

Ken Roczen has been steady in his return to Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, but has also had some flashes of brilliances along the way. A brace of seconds at Thunder Valley, round three, was the most noteworthy part of his season, but then he also impressed at Glen Helen. Those raw bursts of speed have been missing in recent weeks though and he addressed that in a statement from HRC.

"It was a little bit of a struggle," Roczen said. "We made some changes to the bike to help me out a little bit, but you do not want to make too many changes on race day. It is still a learning curve after so much time off the bike. I am trying everything at home to get back, but I feel like race shape is just going to take a little time. Today was brutal—super-hot and the track was pretty beat—plus I have not been here in a couple years.

"I fought it out and I am just going to continue working with the team and working on myself to get better," he continued. "I am healthy and got good starts again, so I am pretty happy from that side. I have been going quite hard throughout the week, trying to put in more and more work, but I think sometimes it is good to take it a notch down and fully recover. RedBud could be another hot one, so we will recover and hopefully have a good race next weekend."

Ken Roczen now runs fourth in the premier-class standings and twenty-three points down on the rider in third. Through the first twelve motos, he has finished on the podium five times and inside of the top five eight times.
