Samuele Bernardini finds a new home

The ATES4-TESAR Yamaha squad, managed by former world champion David Philippaerts, have had a busy week. Nicholas Lapucci sustained an injury to his right hand during training for Lommel just days ago, which will rule him out for an undetermined amount of time. Lapucci was already having a very difficult season, aside from a podium finish at the Russian EMX250 round, and sits twenty-second in the series standings at the time of writing.

Now, just a couple of days on, a new rider has been drafted into the Italian-based Yamaha outfit. Samuele Bernardini, who split from TM Factory Racing just a couple of weeks ago, will debut for the Yamaha squad at the Grand Prix of Switzerland in a little over two weeks. "We are excited to work with Samuele Bernardini until the end of the season," a statement from the team revealed. "Samuele is one of the best MX2 riders and will be behind the gate starting from the MXGP of Switzerland."

Samuele Bernardini will have a point to prove starting at that Swiss round, as he has just five rounds left as an MX2 rider. Now is the time to achieve some final goals and also prove his worth to teams in the paddock, seeing as he needs a premier-class ride for next year, so it is certainly a high-pressure situation. Moving to new surroundings will only add to that. ATES4-TESAR Yamaha will be represented at the Grand Prix of Belgium this weekend by Roan Van De Moosdijk in EMX250.
