Travelling to the USA to contest the Motocross of Nations obviously pushes the resources that the smaller European countries have to the limit and, bearing that in mind, it is hardly surprising that some are struggling to confirm their plans. Switzerland have asked for help, for instance, despite the fact that they have a realistic shot at getting up on the box.
Team Denmark have already opted out of the Motocross of Nations completely, Thomas Kjer Olsen told us earlier today. Denmark actually had a respectable showing last season and ended eleventh overall, thanks in part to the fact that TKO slotted into the top ten in both motos, so losing them is a shame. Denmark have actually not dropped out of the top fifteen since the 2012 edition, which was held in bottomless sand, so have mastered the art of consistency in recent years.
Denmark will actually be more of a threat when the Motocross of Nations returns to Europe at the end of next year, as Mikkel Haarup will be able to back Thomas Kjer Olsen up. Keep an eye on that in the upcoming years.
