Updates: Romain Febvre

Heartbreak for Romain Febvre at Afyon

September 3 (00:26)

Romain Febvre has spoken out for the first time since his crash and confirmed that he has actually broken a rib. "As you know, I had a big crash on Turkish GP's at time practice," Febvre wrote on his personal social-media account. "The exams revealed nothing serious except a head concussion and a broken rib. I will now have to rest and wait to feel better. I am very disappointed with this crash because the speed at the end of the season and on this track was good. I would like to thank you for all your messages of support."

Yamaha have now released a full statement that confirms that Romain Febvre will not race at the Grand Prix of Turkey tomorrow. It was mentioned that he sustained a concussion in the fall, something that he has dealt with in recent years, and that further examinations at the hospital confirmed that there are no other injuries.

There is no word on when he will return, but it would not be surprising at all to see him at Assen in two weeks. Febvre sustained a concussion on this very weekend a year ago, whilst racing in Florida, and still made it back for the following round.

Romain Febvre had a huge crash in practice at the Grand Prix of Turkey moments ago and was eventually taken away by an ambulance. Details are sparse currently, just as one would expect so soon after the crash, but Yamaha released the following update.

While pushing for a top lap time in the timed practice session at the MXGP of Turkey, Romain Febvre suffered from a heavy fall. The former world champion has been taken to hospital for medical observation. An update on his condition will be published when available.

This post will be updated as soon as more information filters through.
